Class PvP guides for WoW Forever

Pick your class below. Learn how it wins, the buttons that matter, and how to beat every class you meet.

Each guide: talents, key buttons, your opener, every matchup, and your job in each battleground.

Druid

Can't be pinned down.

Druids shift forms to break roots and slows. That makes them the best flag carriers in the game. Shifting also frees you from Polymorph. Restoration heals on the run, Feral hunts healers and Balance roots and blasts from range. In Forever your gear works in forms, and you can drink potions without shifting out.

Druid basics

What powers you

Caster form and Moonkin Form use mana. Bear Form uses Rage and Cat Form uses Energy and combo points. Every shift costs mana, so a Druid who shifts a lot must watch the mana bar.

Cloth and leather armor. Druids have three PvP sets: Restoration, Feral and Balance. With 4 rare or 3 epic pieces you move 15% faster in Bear, Cat and Travel Form outdoors.

Forms

Bear Form at 10, Aquatic Form at 16, Cat Form at 20, Travel Form at 30 and Dire Bear Form at 40. Balance builds get Moonkin Form at 40. Every form protects you from Polymorph.

Shifting breaks roots and slows

Shifting into a form frees you from Polymorph and from movement impairing effects like roots and slows. That is why Druids carry flags. It does not free you from stuns.

Caster form heals

Heals like Rejuvenation, Regrowth and Healing Touch need caster form, and Moonkin Form blocks healing. Nature's Grasp can be cast in any form.

Gear works in forms

In Forever your weapon adds to Bear Form damage, weapon enchants work in Bear and Cat Form, and you can drink potions and use items without shifting out.

Abilities you unlock, by level

  1. 8Entangling Roots
Roots one chaser. Damage can break it.
  2. 10Bear Form
From a class quest. Your first shift out of roots and slows.
  3. 14Bash
Bear Form stun. 2 sec at first, 4 sec at rank 3.
  4. 20Cat Form
Stealth with Prowl and fast melee damage.
  5. 20Feral Charge
(talent) Roots and interrupts a caster from range in Bear Form.
  6. 25Swiftmend

  7. 30Travel Form
40% faster outdoors. Your flag running form.
  8. 40Innervate
Big mana regeneration for 20 sec.
  9. 40Moonkin Form
(talent) Balance form with lots of armor and Polymorph protection.
  10. 44Barkskin
20% less physical damage, and hits do not delay your casts.

PvP while you level

10-19

Warsong Gulch only. Do the Bear Form quest at 10. Rejuvenation, Entangling Roots and Nature's Grasp keep you alive. Shift to Bear to break roots and slows, and Bash a healer from 14.

20-29

Arathi Basin opens. Cat Form, Prowl and Starfire come at 20, Remove Curse at 24 and Dash at 26. Feral builds get Feral Charge at 20, Restoration builds Swiftmend at 25. Without Travel Form, use Cat Form and Dash to run.

30-39

Darkspear Islands opens. Travel Form at 30 makes you a real flag carrier. Nature's Swiftness (Restoration) comes at 30, Pounce at 36. Bash lasts 3 sec from 30.

40-49

A big step. Dire Bear Form, Innervate and Hurricane at 40, Barkskin at 44 and a 4 sec Bash at 46. Talents give Moonkin Form, Wild Growth or Shifting Power at 40.

50-59

Alterac Valley opens at 51. At 55 you can buy the rare PvP set for your spec. Its 4 piece bonus makes your forms 15% faster outdoors.

60

Train every max rank. Pick one of the three sets and work toward the epic version through the rank system. Keep shifting out of every slow.

Set up your bars

Keys 1-4Caster form: Rejuvenation, Regrowth, Healing Touch, Entangling Roots. Balance swaps in Wrath, Moonfire and Starfire.
Form barBear and Cat Form swap your main bar. Put the form attacks on the same keys 1-4, for example Bash or Claw on 1.
R and FTravel Form and Bear Form, on keys you can hit without looking. You will press them in a panic.
Q and EEntangling Roots and Bash or Feral Charge.
Z X C VInnervate, Barkskin, Nature's Swiftness and your PvP trinket. Put Cure Poison and Remove Curse on Shift keys.
ControllerGamepad mode has a Druid forms flyout, so all forms fit in one slot. Keep Travel Form on its own button too, since you shift out of slows the most.

Class quests worth doing

  • Bear Form class quest (level 10). Teaches Bear Form, your first shift to break roots and slows. Trainers do not sell it.
  • Power over Poison (level 14). Teaches Cure Poison, to clear Rogue and Hunter poisons from your team.
  • Aquatic Form class quest (level 16). Teaches Aquatic Form. Like every form, shifting into it breaks roots and slows.

New Druid questions

How do I get Bear Form?

From a class quest at level 10. Cure Poison at 14 and Aquatic Form at 16 also come from quests.

Does shifting break stuns?

No. Shifting frees you from Polymorph, roots and slows. Use your PvP trinket for stuns.

Can I heal in Bear or Cat Form?

No. Shift to caster form to heal. Moonkin Form also blocks healing spells.

Why am I always out of mana?

Every shift costs mana. Bear and Cat Form cost 55% of your base mana. Shift when it matters and use Innervate from 40.

Can I use potions in a form?

Yes. In Forever you can drink potions and use items without shifting out.

Which spec should I play?

Restoration heals and carries flags. Feral hunts healers in Cat Form. Balance roots and blasts from range. All three use forms to escape.

Talents and PvP builds

New to talents?

  • You get your first talent point at level 10 and one more each level. That is 51 points at level 60.
  • Every class has three trees. Each row opens once you spend 5 points per row above it in that tree.
  • A line between two talents means the lower one needs the upper one maxed first.
  • Changed your mind? Your class trainer resets your talents for a fee.
  • Pick a PvP build below. Lit icons show where its points go. Hover or tap any talent to read what it does.

Restoration Healer

Heal on the run and carry the flag.

11Balance0Feral Combat40Restoration

You keep heals over time on your team and use instant heals while you move. Shapeshifting breaks roots and slows, so you also make a great flag carrier.

Best for: Battlegrounds, flag carrying and group healing

Gear

Your PvP gear path

Three sets: Restoration, Feral, Balance. Honor and Marks buy the gear; your rank unlocks the upgrades.

  1. Blue PvP setLevel 55. Buy each piece with Honor plus Marks from battlegrounds. No rank needed.
  2. PvP trinketRank 2. Removes slows and loss-of-control effects, 5 min cooldown. Get it first: it wins more fights than any armor.
  3. Faction cloakRank 3.
  4. Epic upgradesTurn a blue piece in with an Emboldened Seal. Wrist and waist at Rank 8, feet 9, hands 10, legs and shoulders 12, chest and head 13.
  5. Rank 14 weaponGrand Marshal or High Warlord. Earliest in week 10 of a season.

Don’t sit on Honor: you can hold 25,000 at most, and anything past that is lost. Beta prices and ranks may change.

Stats to look for

Resto: Stamina, healing power, Intellect, Spirit. Feral: Stamina, Strength, crit. Balance: Stamina, spell power, Intellect. Based on the set stats.12

Forever has no Resilience. Developers said they are not adding it. Stamina gives 10 health per point, like Classic. Hit and crit are one stat each now, for spells and attacks alike. Hit cap against players of your level: 5% melee and ranged, 4% spells, 24% dual wield (beta client). A beta bug halved crit damage in PvP. Blizzard called it a bug and fixed it in the Oct 8 notes. Most damage and healing over time can crit now. Expertise is new. It lowers the target's dodge and parry chance. Every PvP set piece is Stamina-heavy. The sets are the clearest guide to what each spec should stack.

Honor and Marks, in plain words

  • Rare pieces need level 55 and no rank. You pay Honor plus Marks of Honor.
  • Each slot needs Marks from one battleground: WSG for hands, legs, wrists; AB for shoulders, chest, waist, cloaks; AV for head and two-handers; Darkspear for feet, necklace, one-handers, ranged, shields, off-hands.
  • A win gives 3 Marks, a loss 1. You can carry up to 30 of each.
  • Full rare set of 8 pieces (6 set + wrist + waist): 59,200 Honor plus Marks (35 WSG, 35 AB, 15 AV, 10 Darkspear).
  • Epic seals for 8 pieces: 14,000 Honor plus the head seal (price unknown).
  • Honor cap is 25,000, so you will visit the vendor several times.
  • Vendors: Champions' Hall in Stormwind (Captain Dirgehammer armor, Captain O'Neal weapons, Master Sergeant Biggins accessories) and Hall of Legends in Orgrimmar (Lady Palanseer, Sergeant Thunderhorn, Brave Stonehide).

Gear tips

  • Druid has three PvP sets: Resto, Feral and Balance.
  • All three give 15% move speed in Bear, Cat or Travel Form outdoors (4 rare or 3 epic pieces). Great for flag running.
  • No rank 14 weapon is aimed at Feral. Check which weapon types your druid can use.

Enchants

  • All Classic Era enchants remain, so Crusader is still the melee weapon pick. Spell Power and Healing Power for casters and healers.
  • New 2H weapon: Strength (+25 Str), Mighty Spell Power (+55), Mighty Healing Power (+100 healing).
  • New 1H weapon: Recovery (heal 5% max health on parry or dodge), Revelation (next spell +100% crit, diminishing), Insight (Spirit proc).
  • New chest: Absorption (25% chance to absorb 50 damage per hit).
  • New necklace enchants: +5 Str, +5 Agi, spell power, healing power, +5 defense.
  • New bracer and cloak options include Superior Agility (+9), Superior Intellect (+9) and cloak Agility (+5).

Consumables

  • Rank 5 reward: Combat Potions (contents not detailed by Blizzard).
  • BG quartermasters sell Superior and Major Healing and Mana Draughts, bandages and rations from Friendly or Honored.
  • Minor, Lesser and plain Healing Potions moved to First Aid.
  • Alchemists get Mixology: their own elixirs and flasks last twice as long and are stronger.
  • Draught of Predatory Senses is now a potion on the shared combat potion cooldown.

Professions

  • Engineering is the most common PvP pick. Bombs and gadgets give burst and control.
  • SAF-T and EZ-Thro explosives can be used by non-engineers, so you can buy them.
  • Mining at 300 is reported to give +5% max health. Good for PvP, check on live.
  • Gnome racial no longer gives +15 Engineering. It makes devices more reliable.
  • Alchemy's Mixology helps if your battleground allows your elixirs.

Not published yet: Price of the Emboldened Head Seal (rank 13) is not published. All set stats and prices are beta data. Check the vendor on live realms. No tested PvP stat priority at level 60 yet. The beta stopped at level 30. Stats of the battleground reputation rewards in Forever are not checked here. Which rank 14 weapon types Druids can use in Forever.

Racials and mistakes

Racials

Alliance: Night Elf (Shadowmeld, Elune's Light for 10% crit) or the new Skyborne (High Order). Horde: Tauren (War Stomp, Plainsrunning for more run speed) or the new Skyborne (Windshaper).

Common mistakes

  • Staying in caster form while slowed.
  • Carrying the flag without telling your team.
  • Forgetting Innervate.

Veteran tip

Flag carriers live and die by their healers. Call out where you are running.

How ranks work

Battlegrounds and weekly PvP quests give Rank Points. Everyone needs the same points, and nothing takes them away.

Fourteen ranks

From Private or Scout up to Grand Marshal or High Warlord. Rank 2 gives the PvP trinket; Rank 14 gives the epic weapons.

Weekly cap

The highest rank you can reach rises each week. Rank 14 opens in week 10 of a season at the earliest.
